The party was always destroyed if they were willing to fall in line with an avowed idiot, pervert, and failed businessman like Chump.

Unfortunately Republicans attached themselves to MAGA. If it was 1980 I’d probably be considered Republican. But MAGA pedo loving racist morons is the path they chose to follow. So fuck them.

Republicans made a deal with the devil a long time ago. When they opened their „tent“ to Southern racists as part of their Southern Strategy in order to maintain their political power, they chose their path.

For the longest time they „pretended“ to be serious and measured and the nuts contained (the unapologetic racists, the religious apocalypse-hopers, the closeted white supremacists, etc.). This was always a farce because the dog whistles were always there.

Politics in America (and most of the world) is a dirty business with lots of back-room dealing, nepotism, weird „identity politics“ that appeals to ethnic affinities rather than political and practical interests, etc. but the Republicans played that cynical, dirty game masterfully and with zero scruples.

They won. They did. Sure, most Americans hate them and the game (one that they never had any real say in). But, the game is won, and the really rich people and their corporations won. Your vote, you as a citizen are just a prop because most of the power rests in billionaire-owned media companies and their propaganda networks that can mobilize overwhelming numbers of mostly politically ignorant voters to provide the outcomes that they want.

Yes, the Republican Party is broken. Maybe Trump should put his name on it. He deserves to do this more than doing so to national monuments and landmarks.
