Wikipedia presents itself as the place where anyone can edit. The equivalent to a public restroom. This however is entirely false. Simply compare any Conservative article with a liberal page and it’s a night and day difference. The lead section of Donald Trump’s article writes the President as if he’s an authoritarian while the lead for Barack Obama writes him as if he’s the second coming of MLK. It’s no surprise that the Wiki founders have disavowed the platform.

I don’t like the fact that anyone can edit on Wikipedia.

That was one of the reasons for X to kick off Grokipedia. Wait and see how it works and if it will be ruined by politics

No surprises there. It pretty much exists to prop up mainstream propaganda at this point.

Just look at the Taiwan edits. That’ll explain everything you need to know about how that site is run.

Larry Sanger is a bit biased though, he left Wikipedia in 2002, started a competitor and has been bashing Wikipedia ever since. He has been a certified wikihater for a quarter of a century so I would be amazed if he complimented Wikipedia

Wikipedia founders have departed and disavowed what Wikipedia has become. This should be enough proof to show what it has become.
They control the edits, and they control the narrative.

Well everything else is slipping into right-wing propaganda. Go figure.

You know which group is reaaaaally into editing wikipedia?
I can’t blame Wikipedia critics for not understanding how Wikipedia works. You can’t just write an article about anything you want, and you can’t make an edit without having a solid basis for it. You also can literally see a “battle” over every word and comma in many Wikipedia articles.

lol. you people are so fucking stupid. let’s get rid of open source information that everyone can contribute to and replace it with an encyclopedia that elon musk controls. op you are truly making the world a more terrible place. this post is just propaganda intended to hijack everyone’s source of information. not only did op not cite any specific examples, they also couldn’t be bothered to link an article. what an absolute joke.

Should be shocking to no one at this point.
But hey, at least now that they support *current things* they’ve started to be seen more and more as a legitimate information site.
Because of course they have.

Judging by this thread, a lot of right wingers dig conspiracy theories.

Remember when the worst slop out there came from copying Wikipedia articles for college papers? Those days seem so innocent compared to having GPT write whole papers full of convincing hallucinations.

Pretty old article, and not surprising that guys like this always have big complaints and are short on backing it up with examples.
Israel hates Wikipedia too
