Side note – and congrats to fans of avatar and this movie’s success. But I’ve never liked the story of the movie. Guess I never got into it

    2. This one is the lesser of the previous 2 but I still enjoyed it way more than most blockbusters.

    3. I’ve always found that after I see an Avatar movie I never have any interest in seeing it again. It’s just cool eye candy tied together with a generic storyline we’ve all seen before. Outside of the visuals they’re all pretty mediocre movies.

    4. Gotta remember, these films have *legs*. I remember discussing Way of Water and thinking Opening weekend was a bit lower than I would’ve expected, but then it made over 2 Billion.

$400M in the opening weekend (global) will bring the gross box office over $1B in most cases

Isn’t it strange that for how much money these movies make no one ever talks about Avatar? It’s not water cooler shit. It’s not in the zeitgeist. I don’t understand how these are so popular, but then again we elected Trump twice so 🤷🏾‍♂️

I’ve gotta be real here… who the hell is excited enough to run out and see this movie on opening weekend? I watched the first two (on streaming), and they’re just painfully mediocre. Am I crazy for thinking this franchise is like 5-6/10?

Reddit loves to hate on Avatar and pretend it has no cultural impact then it goes on to make over a billion dollars. I saw it in RPX and absolutely loved it. I genuinely love the characters and nothing visually comes close to these films. James Cameron knows what he’s doing.

Avatar clearly has its hardcore fanbase, and there’s a lot of them. This movie will make a ton of money, but I feel like it has to be diminishing returns from this point on. To be clear, that still means a lot of money, but Disney’s gonna have to accept this franchise has hit its ceiling. By this third film, you’re either on the Avatar train or you’re not, and from what I hear, this new movie isn’t really adding anything new to the equation. Which is fine! I’ve accepted I’m just not into these movies, but clearly many, many are.

    10. After an hour and 10min of horrible acting, lack of direction/plot, that was enough for me to consider $20 wasted and go do something else with my Saturday.
