Well, needless to say that I wish we didn’t have to cut this, but – if it’s a choice between funding efforts against potential aggression or funding efforts against actual aggression – then that’s no choice at all.
I’d rather my tax gets used like this to he honest
The Americans (Trump admin) already dropped sanctions on pro-Russian serbs/organisations and gutted their support for stuff that was keeping the peace in that region, so I would imagine our lot considered our own support as no longer viable in light of that.
The Russians have attempted coups in the area before Ukraine 2, and have encouraged unrest there on multiple occasions, but I guess we no longer care, or assume that the EU should be picking up the tab for it, seeing as these are all nations applying for membership.
I am in favour of supporting Ukraine to defend itself. But this has shown that war in Europe is costly for everyone. It is therefore worth spending a fraction of the budget in promoting peace in other countries too.
