Here in Canada we have the same thing happen at the borders occasionally. People from warmer climates don’t understand how serious cold weather is. If the wind is blowing and the temperature is, say, minus thirty, and the wind brings whatever it hits down another twenty degrees, that means a person outside is now at minus fifty degrees. That will kill someone not properly dressed in probably in an hour or so. Lucky the early pioneers here in Canada survived at all.
