It’s why I think that they will keep him. The unknown is worse. Which is unfortunate because they really need to get rid of him.

Poilievre is still their best shot. He had 40% of the vote in the last election. They should run it back as the Liberals continue to be incumbents and public opinion declines.

No depth or warmth. You can’t just hate everything and hope that will get you votes. When he speaks I am repulsed.

Poilievre will get through the leadership review with 80% support from delegates, but he’s a dead man walking. Leadership contenders will have a year or two to get ready before caucus pulls the plug.
At this point it’s almost better for them that Carney gets a majority so they can pin all the blame on PP and focus on 2029.
Look for Jivani, Ford, maybe Wall or Moe to start ramping up.
I’m also willing to put money down that the next Conservative leader will not be conversationally fluent in French.

Caucus kicked out O’Toole for this guy. I’m sorry if O’Toole doesn’t get a second chance neither does Pierre. I’ll take a boring old Peter MacKay on principle over Pierre. Boomers and women simply won’t vote for the guy, and he has demonstrated he cannot change. I think the word is “ick”.
Pierre has to go, I don’t even give a shit if there is no hier. Let the people decide. He’s polling 10 points lower than the party. It’s too important of a job to get a second chance

Explains the sudden appearance of many tweets defending him, condemning the media for their „Liberal“ attacks, and crapping on the PM.

U/Pintord will lead them into green/conservatism, no more corporate socialism, balanced budget, independence from US, strong military, roll back small arms regularions, and I will expose the lie of fossil fuels, most know that already.

The article mentions Lantsman, who I think would be a very serious leadership contender, but there’s also Rempel-Garner, Leslyn Lewis, and Gerard Deltell, who have all performed quite the effectively in the House and in committees.

This guy is irrelevant now that we have a conservative running the country, slashing jobs and trying to turn everything into a pipeline

The CPC has never had trouble attracting leadership candidates, I don’t know where this talking point comes from. Just feels like a boring gratuitous cheap shot leading up to the slowest news period of the year.

Michael Chong would be ideal. Canadians show they have an appetite for business suits over provocateurs. It seems we prefer prog conservatives who care about economics and aren’t going after the Woke issues. I mean, rural folks will always grip onto populist agendas, but they’re not the majority bloc in Canada — medium-income, educated urbanites are just as likely to vote nowadays and they would prefer someone who doesn’t talk out of their other end.

Jiviani would probably be the worst post-Poilievre pick, or arguably the best depending on how you look at it. The behind the scenes disputes that we’ve largely heard about from insiders & defecting MPs would likely become much more public under a Jiviani led CPC, which would probably further increase the frequency of moderates crossing the floor.
It’s too early to say if this is as permanent or long term shift for either party, but if the CPC doesn’t start treating their PC wing better, it increases the chance that the Liberals become the main centre to centre-right leaning party etc.
