    1. Should’ve been institutionalized long ago judging from literally every picture/story of this loser. Too late, bye and rot in prison.

So you telling me his rich parents resources and all the rehabs couldn’t figure this one out till it was too late?

This screams bullshit defense attorney grasping at straws.

I feel for his poor parents trying to help him and holding out hope that he would get better, but this dude should have been institutionalized a long time ago. Society is better off without him.

    4. Something about this seems off. Schizophrenia meds (even atypicals) cause sleepiness and weight gain, not homicidal rage. But if he was refusing to take them, that might explain it.

I knew they would go for an insanity defense since he obviously did it.

    6. Reporting like this is super dangerous. I’m not a shill for medication, but this is written to imply that meds made him a murderer and will certainly prejudice people against taking their own, or supporting their kids in getting the help they need. It’s not a catch-all and is a super complicated and difficult process, but this sort of reporting contributes to noncompliance and resistance to getting help.

I work closely with a lot of people who have schizophrenia and are on heavy meds for it. Many of them have committed murder or attempted murder. There is no one way to treat schizophrenia and people have different reactions to different medications. When you factor in trauma and substance abuse (which are both VERY common in people with schizophrenia) it’s even more difficult. I hate what happened, and I hope he find a facility that can provide him specialized care. (Edit to fix typos)

Super dangerous and irresponsible to frame this as though medications made him violent, without contextualizing a lifetime of serious drug abuse and mental illness. TMZ is vile.

    9. Psych meds don’t make people enraged killers, it’s actually the exact opposite. Most psych meds (especially antipsychotics) block receptors which reduce both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia (hallucinations/ flat affect etc ) and often cause folks to seems zoomed out and not with it, lethargic etc

There is some information that shows folks with schizophrenia can have increased agitation from using antidepressants in conjunction with antipsychotics, but this is rare

One of my exes first or second cousins I believe was schizophrenic and his meds were not quite right. Ended up killing two of his neighbors and nearly killing a third, who I believe were his friends. He is permanently in a psychiatric prison now

    11. As an amateur psychopharmacologist, I’d like to know what meds were involved at what doses and for how long.

If true, then that video that surfaced of him smoking a bunch of pot raises some concern. I mean, I’m as big as cannabis fan as they come, but people with schizophrenia should not consume it.

We have a neighbor with a schizophrenic adult child, that does not live with them, and sometimes when the child smokes pot and come around the neighborhood, they have delusions and cause all sorts of ruckus. It’s honestly terrifying- he like confront people and threatens them looking for his parents.

Just want to make it clear that having a mental illness does not necessarily mean you are a danger to society.

I am not his therapist or doctor but I still believe he needs to be locked up for life.  He made a conscious choice to take a lot of drugs so this shouldn’t be a sign that he had no agency.

He is still a piece of shit.

Preparing the masses for an insanity plea.

I called this the minute I read the first article

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t being erratic and dangerous what schizophrenia medication is supposed to treat?
