Yeah, he needs to sue, but he can’t say that he’s surprised since he spent three decades doing the same „I am the law“ crap to other people.

It should come from pockets of the individual cops. Otherwise it’s just the taxpayers who pay.

Remember, Republicans fucking hate the real purpose of free speech.

In their ideal world, Republicans feel that free speech should allow them to call for the death of Jews and black people on social media (even though social media companies are private).

They do not feel that free speech should be what it’s actually intended to be: protected speech against the wealthy and powerful.

Whenever professors simply repeated Charlie Kirk’s words, conservatives wanted them hanged for treason.

Not just the cops, there needs to be consequences for those on facebook who launched this witch hunt.

I am from the UK and the American far-right are claiming my country is a lost cause becuase people are being arrested for memes, yet they’re suspiciously quiet about this one.

If cops would’ve done their job and protected Kirk then there wouldn’t be any memes.

He’s not wrong, but also ACAB. How many times did this dude look the other way during investigations, arrests, etc.? Seems like he’s getting a taste of what civilians go through at LE’s hands every day. No good guys anywhere near this case.

    8. So what it boils down to, is the premise he was arrested on is that the people in Tennessee are stupid. That’s what the sheriff was trying to make fly in court. 😹 But of course he himself was too stupid to realize that was the implication.

    9. Freedom of speech isn’t the freedom to say anything you want without repercussion it is specifically the ability to say anything and be protected from the government… Including police.

Of course they should pay and I hope that they do so this type of thing doesn’t happen again. What sucks is the police don’t have money. It’ll be the taxpayers paying the bill and the taxpayers should remember that when they’re voting next time.

    10. Cops should be held accountable is apparently not a winning political strategy since 2020 or actually the 1970s

Cops should pay for that. So should the judge.

Depresses me to no end how unwilling we are to hold cops and other officials accountable for shitty behavior.

I hope he gets an excellent lawyer and burns everyone involved in his jailing to the ground

I wish they would jail me for trump memes lord knows I’ve been trying. 37 days is light work, im suing those fat saggy yam tits right off the captain.

    14. >The meme that Bushart shared, which included a photo of Trump, quoted the „we have to get over it“ part and noted that he was talking about „the Perry High School shooting one day after.“ The message also included a comment by the original poster: „This seems relevant today…“

      >The widely circulated meme—which falsely implied that Trump had nonchalantly dismissed the murders in Perry…

How do you read „We have to get over it“ in response to murders as anything BUT nonchalantly dismissing the murders? Is it because he called it a tragedy before telling people to get over it? Fucking Christ, Jacob Sullum can fuck off, stop whitewashing this stupid bullshit.

    15. This headline is a LIE. This man was jailed for sharing a photo of Trump with a direct true quote from Trump. FULL STOP.

      Conservative here.

This dude should win a train filled with cash and the Sherri should be brought up on charges and removed from office. Charlie Kirk would agree this sheriff should be removed
