      TikTok U.S. joint venture will be owned by a consortium of investors:

      * 15% Oracle, will store US user data
      * 15% Silver Lake Technology Management
      * 15% MGX – a United Arab Emirates investment company
      * 30.1% will be held by affiliates of existing ByteDance investors
      * 19.9% will be retained by the China-based ByteDance.
      * The U.S. venture will have a new, seven-member majority-American board of directors, the memo said. It will also be subject to terms that “protect Americans’ data and U.S. national security.”
      * TikTok’s algorithm will be retrained on U.S. user data to “ensure the content feed is free from outside manipulation,”
      * The U.S. will also oversee content moderation and policies.

      This is for only TikTok US, for the rest of the world it will business as usual for TikTok.

      Will US users be given the option to view the international version or will they live in a world of their own?

      I wonder if Bytedance is trying to force Trump’s hand by announcing this through an internal company memo.

      No way would Trump et al would be happy with just the data. They want control over the algorithm, which is something China won’t want to give them.

      The real question is will they push their propaganda slow enough so the current useful idiot base on TikTok transplants to the new/ conflicting propaganda, or will it be too quick and cause an exodus?
