      If you can manage to find a bipartisan consensus over any subject matter these days, you should probably run away as fast as you can because there is no way that whatever it is they agree on is gonna be good for you!

      Cutting China off from Western technology will only accelerate their rush towards developing their own domestic supply chain.

      The moment China is no longer reliant on international cooperation for access to the most advanced semiconductors they will invade Taiwan.

      The United States will then have a choice. They can choose to defend Taiwan with American lives in a full scale war with China, or they can cede their position as the global superpower as the clock turns back 20 years on US tech in the largest economic catastrophe in US history.

      It *strongly* in the interest of the peace and prosperity of the United States to promote economic codependence with China. Do not let Trump nonsense, AI anxiety, and slimy NY Times warhawks blind you to this reality.

      When doesn’t he double down.  It’s the standard desparate response from anyone who’s screwed up and trying to avoid a personal shit storm.  His next follow up will be to heap personal insults on anyone who raises the issue.

      This is somehow the most unconstitutional thing trump has done so far. Not even congress has the power to tax exports as it is expressly forbidden in the constitution.
