More than $2.9 billion in reconciliation funds was allocated to beef up troop housing allowances. Now it’s being used for $1,776 checks.

So they aren’t getting shit. They’re getting their own money they were already supposed to receive.

    3. bbycutiepiex on

So the warrior dividend isn’t some new magic bonus just taking housing subsidy money Congress already okayed and slapping a sexy name on it. Classic vibe shift over substance.

      Knew it.

Trump never does a simple good thing. Everything he does that isn’t morally reprehensible either profits him directly or harms a separate program/people. Everything he does must come with a catch. It’s impossible for him to just do something good for the American people, without any strings attached.

His supporters won’t see it as that, of course. They’ll rebrand it as „resourcefulness“ or „effective resource management“ or something. You never know with those idiots.

and the troop subsidy is due to spending the barracks money on trumps wall and border crap

    6. Pretty much Trump’s 2nd term in a nutshell.

Claiming victories and accomplishments without actually having done shit.

    7. Warriors have honor. Trump intends to destroy everything honorable about the military.

    8. I have zero clue what they mean. Are they getting an extra one time payment of BAH, are they coding it as a BAH payment or is it just the BAH.

The article was pretty unclear about it.

    9. Damn, the gold paint hardly had time to dry before it flaked off that con.

    10. Lot of dealerships around bases are going to offer Dodge Chargers for $1,776 down and have a 17.76% APR on the note.

    11. I am a veteran and union member. I am constantly shocked at the mental gymnastics my colleagues do to justify the crap going on. This will be celebrated as a win even tho it’s a net loss.

When Congress approved our union contract they voted separately for sick days. The sick days were shot down. Needed 60 votes. 50 Dems voted to give them and 5 republicans. It fell short by 5 votes. The narrative at work was “the Dems fucked us. “

    12. figures they aren’t really getting anything. there’s basically no more money to steal to bribe people with so they just keep shifting around the money they’ve already stolen. america is the new ponzi scheme.

    13. not-a-troller on

Wait, a subsidy? Isn’t that communist socialism. What’s next. Fighting a war to invade another country?

    14. Moritasgus2 on

Anyone in the military that can say whether people see through this BS or buy into it?

    15. Wait, is this fuck stick describing BAH? As an, „we have to house our military in places they can’t even attempt to afford, so here’s a stipend for housing?“

    16. Total-Mushroom-9614 on

Just wait til they explain about the civilian 2000$ ‚dividend‘ and it turns out to be a tax credit applicable only if x….y…

They don’t have any EXTRA money. That’s all lies. So they are trying to package up some crap they have already slid through Congress as some sort of ‚bonus‘ for the people from all this winning that we are doing.

Meanwhile the bank account is draining fast.

    17. epicredditdude1 on

So Trump basically hijacked a congressionally approved payment to service members to gain a political advantage.

In any normal administration this would be a huge scandal, but in Trump world we just have to accept this as normal.

    18. Ok-Wealth-7322 on

Trump’s trifecta of laughably transparent cons:

      (1) Take credit for something good that someone else did, and slap his branding all over it.

      (2) Blame someone else for something bad that he did, insisting that it is the fault of some other 3rd party and he’s powerless to change it.

      (3) Create a problem and sell a half-assed fix that still leaves the other party worse off than before Trump got involved.

    19. True_Dog_4098 on

Trump is trying to buy off the soldiers that will be taking illegal orders.

    20. 3 billion is now 1.5 billion…
This 1.5b is now taxed unlike before.
Will the other 1.5 goto Housing now to fix the black mold?

    21. Resident_String_5174 on

I bet he has his signature printed on them so they feel indebted to the dear leader

    22. Now they have to pay taxes on this money bc Trump is doing it this way. Trump fucks over the military once again

    23. Ecstatic-Trouble- on

Conservatives have such „compensating for a tiny penis“ energy.

    24. theawesomedanish on

Maybe part of the problem is branding.
If someone on the left started framing social liberal policies as warrior values, they’d probably gain traction in the US.

„A true warrior doesn’t discriminate, he rises above it“
„A true warrior looks out for ALL his people“.
„A true warrior understands the systemic injustices facing his fellow Americans and refuses to exploit them“.

Strength, discipline, honor, responsibility, those aren’t right-wing values.
They’ve just been marketed that way.

    25. TakingSorryUsername on

And lemme guess, it was originally supposed to be $2000.00, but he’s keeping $224.00 for a private wealth fund.

    26. Problem is that the majority of people won’t understand that these aren’t a gift from Trump. They’ll see all the news reports that say Trump is promising a $1776 dividend check. That check will come in the mail with Trump’s face and signature on it. They’ll be happy to get the money (who wouldn’t be?) and they’ll think that it was actually through Trump’s efforts that they’re getting these „bonuses“.

They won’t know that it was money that Congress had already allocated. They won’t know that it is essentially a refund of the money that they should have received already, but didn’t because money was shunted from the housing fund to the border security fund (illegally, without Congressional approval). All they’ll know is that they’re getting a Trump check.

Unfortunately, propaganda like this works enough to get/keep the GOP in power. They’re masters at duping their voting base. A voting base that WANTS to support the GOP, so they latch on to anything that appears to be good news and use it to shore up their belief in the party.

    27. citymousecountyhouse on

Will the check even be good after Mr. Trumps last mental fit about signatures. Surely, he’s not signing every check himself.

    28. Rusalka-rusalka on

Enjoy that taxable income before you are sent off to the next war in Venezuela.

    29. hebreakslate on

There are going to be a lot of E3 and below who are going to be very disappointed that they’re not going to receive this because they weren’t receiving BAH.
