Either they won’t release it or it’s so bad even though they tried to redact everything

      [From AOC herself](https://x.com/AOC/status/2001446138285531447):

      > “Like I said: view all political developments for the rest of the week in light of the fact that the Epstein Files are supposed to be released on Friday. House Republicans just suddenly canceled Congressional session Friday and are sending everyone home Thursday evening.”

    3. Who cares about health care costs tripling? The real issue is house members being in DC and having to face the press about the pedophile in chief.

Congress: Can we vote on something serious, like transparency on Epstein docs?

Johnson: Nah fam, pack up its breaktime.

Nothing says ‚problem solved‘ like disappearing until fall.

    5. Redshirt_Welshy_Nooo on

Wow, Republicans sure seem to be terrified of the Epstein files.

      Wonder why… 🤔

    6. Haven’t these assholes taken enough time off? Seriously, who would keep a job if they only worked 80 days in a year?

    7. Democrats need to stay in DC and do lots of interviews from DC, with the dome in the background to show they are in DC.

    8. Loo-Hoo-Zuh-Er on

Funny how Tim Burchett didn’t approach the House floor after the approval vote to fast-track the release, just like he attempted to BEFORE the approval vote. He knew then it wouldn’t happen because it was against procedure (You can’t speed up the release of something that hasn’t been approved for release in the first place).

He got turned away by his own party member after literally 60 seconds, then left the Capitol and posted a lie about how Democrats blocked his attempt during a vote. A vote that never happened.

    9. AcanthisittaNo6653 on

The release of Epstein files is already public law. This time he’s trying to avoid a vote on ACA subsidies. Whenever it gets too tough for him Johnson closes the House. If the House wants to be a governing body again, they need to kick him to the curb and elect new leadership. They need someone who will keep the House open.

    10. Mike Johnson should be tried for covering up crimes, at this point. He is an accessory to all of this.

Hey Conservatives, MAGA, and anyone that voted for these people,

Are you even mad? Do you mind funding 3 months of their vacations this year? While they cut your healthcare and refuse to hold pedophiles accountable. Is this what you wanted??

Vote for a clown and you get the circus. Please, please, please learn from this and don’t be like your imbecilic parents that never taught you anything.

    12. Can we *please* move past the “What are ya gonna do about it” phase that we have been trapped in

    13. A 5 year old’s response – if I didn’t see it, and wasn’t there when it happened, then it didn’t happen.

We better see ALL of the Epstein files Friday.

    14. The_Mad_Titan_Thanos on

Remember last year when every MAGA was on their “protect the children” crusade, calling every lefty or trans person a pedophile. Notice how the majority of those folks are silent and still supporting their rapist in chief? The worst human beings.

    15. Its that bad huh? Since they’re behaving this way, they’ve left me no other choice than to assume that Trump was pulling a Dahmer.

Donald Trump, America’s most prolific pedophile who then dismembered his numerous underaged child victims and then ate them.

      Im gunna tell everyyyyoneee

So my family can’t even afford to miss a day of work because groceries are too expensive, let alone a vacation.

Yet we are paying for theirs.  Maybe it’s time for a little reminder on what it’s like to fear.  Clearly nothing lethal…but something that makes them show how *pathetic* they are for everyone to see.

Maybe pretend to be their boss.  Any good Pootin cosplayers nearby?

    17. StarStruck3 on

I feel like Mike himself is in the files, with how hard he’s trying to stop them getting out

    18. Squirrel009 on

So what’s the game here? This doesnt stop or delay the release directly right? Will DoJ just refuse or give a bunch of redacted nothingness and closing the house early prevents anyone from effectively engaging with that tactic?

    19. MTG! We need you!! I’m putting up the MTG signal! Motion to vacate!! As a fellow American and someone who wants to see justice for the Epstein victims. Motion to vacate this spineless cuck

    20. How about the real reason he sent them home so they couldn’t vote on the three year extension for the affordable care act. The republicans want you forced on the Epstein files and not all the things they are doing to screw Americans, nothing and i mean absolutely nothing is going to change when or if the Epstein files are released the cult will still support their mango messiah and the people that don’t still won’t but the real thing is if they prove trump is a pedophile and or trafficked children the GOP majority will do nothing about it and claim it’s a hoax but more than likely any incriminating evidence against trump and or his billionaire buddies has been removed

    21. The reason – or excuse? Johnson is also faced with a forced vote on ACA subsidies.

    22. It makes no sense if this is strictly to protect Trump. SCOTUS has given him blanket immunity forever. His base doesn’t care if Trump was involved. They’ll just say he was a young 65 year old playboy. Johnson is protecting someone else.

It’s so freaking obvious and childish..I need to stop reading. I’m tired of getting aggravated.

    24. _Fun_Employed_ on

So it’s like a thing that the House can’t meet without the speaker?

Could the democrats hold like a caucus or meeting with the republicans who would be amenable in the meantime? Or anything like that?

I wonder how many Innocent children will be assaulted between now and tomorrow?

What I have to say is kinda correlated to the big picture.

But yall. My mom (75F) just called me on the phone last night. She is officially an ex Maga. We had a 2 hr conversation about it. At the end of our talk, she said she was sorry.

At first I thought she was just fussing, but she straight up said „that monster is behind everything that is happening right now. Not Joe. Trump and his whole family is. Its him.“

Needless to say I said nothing back, because honestly I was trying to read if she was just yanking my chain, or if she was for real.

I asked her how she would vote next time. She said „never for a republican or republican man ever again.“ She even asked me who’s good right now, and who I would like to see on the Democratic ballots.

For the first time in like 15 years, mom and I had an adult civilized political conversation and went the whole 2 hrs without raising our voices. Ended on a happy note.

There is still hope for some of us who feel as though we have lost our parents to the orange man.

    27. Can’t the Dems just not leave the House? I mean maybe the floor is closed but can’t Dems just hang out in their offices on Friday and when the files are “dropped”/delivered, can’t they just sign for the files or package? Like , “well, Mike’s not here right now, but just leave it with me and I’ll be sure to give it to him next year “… /s

    28. ickieShampoo on

Mike Johnson is a human butt plug.

That is his entire purpose in life. To be shoved up the anus of the American political body.

    29. nvmenotfound on

files due Friday and he sends everyone home Thursday. not suspicious at all. heck of a coincidence. just like all the other bs mike johnson does and lies about.

    30. Commentator-X on

This isn’t just about the Epstein files. The house has enough votes to force a full vote on extending ACA subsidies and just like with the Epstein files, Johnson is shutting the house down to avoid having that vote, which will likely succeed. Its the same tactic used with the Epstein files but that ship has sailed, it’s already been voted on. This shutdown is to prevent the ACA extension vote.
