FBI agents currently racking up another $1M in overtime just to ensure we see absolutely nothing by Friday.

    2. >Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, if the information is not made public by Friday, „the Justice Department officials would be breaking the law.“

      >While they likely would not face charges during the current administration, „they could be subject to prosecution given the federal law, and the statute of limitations will likely run into a new administration.“

      >They also „could be hauled in front of Congress, the Oversight Committee,“ and „there could be federal lawsuits“ over any inaction,

Those are the repercussions based on the article.

Repercussions from who exactly? Seriously. What kind of a joke headline is this?

    4. Sorry but the Epstein files were in the area of the White House that’s under construction and they were destroyed.

I’m gonna go ahead and suggest the administration could not give less of a fuck what „law’s co-author“ has to say about it.

Another meaningless trash article from american media

    6. The doj is now part of trumps cult. They can’t release it now without incriminating Trump and themselves.

    7. Bongino is on his way out, if not already.

Probably getting out of the way of the release.

    8. whos actually going to hold them accountable when they dont release the files? nobody has done so for anything so far.

We have been doing this since Bondi claimed the files were on her desk back in February, so nearly a year. Trump and the ‘Pubs have blocked it at every possible turn, calling it a hoax, blah blah blah. Finally, they realize it’s going to pass after the government reopened – so Trump throws up his hands and says “fuck it, we don’t have anything to hide.”

So I have a question, and I haven’t really seen many people asking this or talking about it. If you have nothing to hide, why are we waiting until the last possible day to release the files? It doesn’t say “you have to release them IN 30 days exactly, it says “WITHIN” 30 days, so what have they been waiting on?

Yeah, but what if they don’t?

Like no on has made anyone do anything. Because no one cares enough to risk losing their jobs. And the few that have are under lots of pressure and deaththreats.

    11. „DOJ Must release Epstein Files or risk repercussions“, says article that goes on to say that the DOJ would face no repercussions in the current administration.

I hear the usual talking head politicians and social media influencers say the same thing. „They’ll face consequences“. Who, specifically, will face consequences? What consequences will they face? Who, specifically, will be responsible for enforcing those consequences and what methods of enforcement are available to them?

The article itself goes on to say that they wouldn’t face consequences under the Trump administration, consequences under a future administration are hypothetical at best and may run into statute of limitations issues, and the most they’re likely to face is a tongue lashing in front of congress which is little more than performative theater. Which means they’ve got nothing.

And with that said, Democrats need to start stepping up with the Epstein files. We’ve heard their claims that they’ve got the goods repeatedly, saying that there are all sorts of pictures of them engaging in sexual content. But all they’re coughing up is a bunch of innocuous pictures involving D-list celebrities like Woody Allen in completely irrelevant, random pictures and Trump engaging in content we already knew about.

I don’t need to see the pictures or hear the details, but they need to start delivering the goods. They need to start naming names. They need to give us *something* more than a bunch of random celebrities in non-social settings which prove little more than they happened to randomly meet Epstein a few times. If they know the names that are in that supposed „black book“, they need to start naming them. If they’ve seen these pictures of them engaging in illicit activity, we need to see (redacted versions of) them. But the game they’re playing of claiming they’ve got the goods and delivering Woody Allen and Bill Gates in some random social pictures, they’re going to fuel Trump’s narrative that the Epstein files really are a nothingburger. They need to stop with this „Tune in tomorrow….“ crap and shit or get off the pot.

I’m sure they’ll hand over something but if anybody thinks they’d just willfully hand over the means to their own destruction just because a bunch of chucklefucks signed a paper, I’ve got a once in a lifetime offer on a bridge in Brooklyn.

    13. NeverLookBothWays on

Ah yes, the repercussions of the police arresting police.

I have a prediction. The circus will continue on Friday…set your expectations low.

    14. Mobile_Morale on

Repercussions. What are they going to do. Hold up a sign showing their displeasure.

Maybe have a slightly upset interview on CNN.

Is Chuck and Hakeem going to write an angry newsletter to their billionaire puppet masters.

There would be a better chance for me to summon a lich of Elvis Presley using dark magic than for any Republican to face repercussions for anything they are currently doing.

    15. Repercussions don’t happen for conservatives, though. Trump’s DOJ will just refuse to take any action.
