I spent my twenties in Japan just seeking casual sex. Marriage happened eventually on its own. Why zero in on the final goal at the exclusion of the fun along the way?
I mean, we know why. It’s Japan. Everything’s a test or preparation for a test. The weight of expectations is soul-crushing.
That last bit isn’t only true in Japan, though.
Ryudok on
I come from another time in which flirting on the Internet was done in a more natural and improvised way (public chats, early social media focused on common likes) so it pains me to see how instrumentalized and artificial it has become.
With that said, I think this is not limited to Japan, I see people worldwide on the Internet both in Europe and the Americas complaining about the same thing, how dating is impossible, how the date pool is bad, how postponing marriage has made social pressure pile up… It is just raised up to 11 when it comes to Japan where it was already difficult to find a partner that suited your „needs“.
