      Isn’t it because hotel and ryokan have become super expensive ? Personally I prioritize day trips to avoid paying 15000yen for a shitty hotel

      As a Japanese person there are just a few hotspots in places Kyoto and Tokyo I don’t go to just because it’s too crowded, but for the most part the best places are fine
