It looks like they hit the pier instead of the sub. So any meaningful damage to the sub will have been indirect sadly.

The stern is probably just scrap and the submarine is filled with water. It looks like it is lying suspiciously low in the water. Probably ready for scrapping

Sad to see the submarine above water, and it looks like the dock took the brunt of the damage.
Still, the submarine hasn’t been moved, contrary to the two others, so there is still hope.

just FIY. underwater part (tail) is 17 meters long

No way they didn’t do severe damage to the propeller and fins, which is below the surface and extends almost all the way into the corner of the pier. Look up a Kilo class sub and you’ll see just how far aft the prop sits underwater. It’s probably the most vulnerable part of the ship and very difficult to replace or repair with sanctions.
Video footage shows they may have also hit the other sub in the prop… the video was cropped at the second explosion (not a secondary explosion, a separate attack). The second sub is not shown in these photos so they must’ve towed it before the satellite passed.

Maybe the long game was to make them afraid to pack vessels tightly on the inside of a „somewhat“ protected three sided pier ?
And that sub is damaged, if it wasn’t it wouldn’t be the only vessel still on the inside.
TheonetrueKringle on
Its almost impressive how they managed to snake through all those targets to hit the dock.

They moved the sub in the right side of the original video in case more drones were GPS guided on the way. The hit sub is in place and stabilized because of damage to the aft. Target rich environment.

Wheres the video

Sitting much lower than the other sub across the dock. Zero doubt it sustained damage based on the video. Look up depth charges, doesn’t even need to be a direct hit to do substantial damage

I’d bet it’s damaged more than we can see. If the hull was breached, they could have sealed if off internally, preventing sinking.

Are these subs capable of launching cruise missiles? Is that why it was chosen?
SilentRunning on
First picture clearly shows the sub at top listing from the aft section. So it has suffered enough damage either in the rudder/engine compartment or somewhere near it.
If it’s just a haul breach it should be a long fix but if the rudder, propeller or engine room are damaged then this sub will be out for a longer period.

Ok so now I realize there’s other subs to compare it to, the one inside the docks does appear to be sitting lower in the water than the others
FlamingFlatus64 on
The two subs docked outside of that basin look a bit more vulnerable today.
Mountain-Crab3438 on
It is sitting a little low in the water compared to the sub that is docked outside of the pen.

Do it again, that one won’t move for a while.

Im sorry to say, but at the time of impact none of these pictures represent the scene. At the top of the first picture, at the end of the left dock…one see’s a half immersed sub there (video). When I first say the impact video I said to myself, geez they missed it. What gives?

Nice oil slick

For many years I’ve pulled into docks with less than a metre under the keel at low tide, I would have to assume the sub still sitting there is doing just that, sitting on the bottom!….we need two photos 5 hours apart!

Target rich environment. Too bad our western leaders are holding back the supply of weapons capable of taking out this entire port. Trump is pulling on his orange combover, trying to figure out how to bring a just and quick peace, when all he needs to do is supply Ukraine to the hilt, and tell the Kremlin that we’re all in. The Kremlin knows real strength and the willingness to use it. In fact, it’s the ONLY thing they respect. Right now, all they see are chickenshits, patsies and useful idiots.

That sub is way lower in the water. It is scrap metal now. The Russians can’t possibly fix it to make it dive worthy again.

Just want to point out the other sub that wasnt hit is gone. If this sub could move i think they probably would have moved it too.

I have a theory: This thing is filled with water, or at least half filled.
If you look at how deep the submarine hit sits in the water, [it sit way lower in the water than the same type right next to it. ](https://imgur.com/a/e3zUNax)And yes i know there is a thing called image distortion, but that wouldn’t apply here since these are no further than 20 meters a apart.
the submarine that lays right next to it has a exposed rear part, the sub that’s hit does not. [as seen here](https://imgur.com/a/YSz5jto)
My theory. The explosion ripped off the tail, which sticks out about 10 meters further and has filled the rear part of the submarine with water, [in this satellite imagery form 2019 you can clearly see that the propeller and fins stick out almost all the way to the corner.](https://imgur.com/a/XgAK3PD) If you look at some of the provided imagery you can see how the waterline is always the same. here it’s not, the waterline is at „top“ part which is NOT submerged when in port, as [you can see in this image](https://imgur.com/a/sAeOnxh).
The blast took out a massive chunk of the concrete dock, I can’t imagine there would be no damage to the sub that close to it. I reckon if that sub could move, it wouldn’t be in this image..
