So now they will have to use a small screwdriver instead of just a usb? Lol engine immobilizer chips have been a thing since at least the early 90’s. Most manufacturers add them because it’s an easy effective method to prevent theft. These cost/corner cutting manufacturers saved dollars per vehicle leaving them out.

I liked my Hyundai initially, but after a few months I started to notice all kinds of stuff I hate. I hope someone steals mine.

Many many years too late. I’m guessing they are only reacting because their sales numbers are abysmal now. They tainted their brand and I definitely wouldn’t want to buy a car that someone can jack in seconds.

Why wouldn’t the government just mandate that all new vehicles need an immobiliser?
That seems like the obvious way to just avoid this from happening again, and would have prevented them from having to install them in all the cars after sale anyway. Many other countries, such as Australia formalised this a long time ago (2001).
Too little too late. You already tainted your brand. Some kid is not gonna know/care if a particular KIA has an anti theft retro fit. They’re gonna break in and if it doesn’t work simply move on to the next KIA they find.
I had a coworker drive off in a KIA Soul thinking it was there’s but it ended up being a co workers. I guess they had the same key bidding
