    The real issue is what they are going to do once the survey is finished and how they are going to cap the real estate market and how the japanese sellers are going to take the hit, because foreigners alone are unlikely so influential on the local market and tower manshion type of buildings are tuned on a specific high end demographics.

    Is this reporting going to be retroactive? If we have a detached house we purchased a year ago will we need to file a report?

  3. Can they not just stop non-residents (people not living in Japan) from buying up residential properties? Seems like that’d solve all problems and I doubt any of us foreigners living here would disapprove. Or is it too lucrative for the government, because they do tend to skirt around issues like that while talking a big game?
