Tatsächlich sind nur etwa 5 % der Weltbevölkerung homosexuell. Dann ist nur noch weniger als 1 % trans. Dann noch deutlich weiter für Menschen mit echter Geschlechtsdysphorie gegenüber Autogynäphilie.
Bis zu einem gewissen Grad scheint dies konstruiert zu sein.

Why does media have an obsession with really attractive characters?
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against them and they’re free to have their own shows.
I just think them seemed to be really deeply „overly“ represented to a point that it’s not real life.
They try to give the impression that half the world is really attractive or that anyone could easily be attractive.
In reality, it’s only about 2-3% of the world that is attractive. Then only less and 1% is really attractive. Then significantly further still for people with genuine fucking sex-appeal. /s (kinda)

Because until very recently, this shit couldn’t be talked about, and then it became okay, so people who’ve wanted to tell these stories for ages finally got their chance to.
It was supposed to be about “representation” but if you look at TV and movies you’d think America is just gay people of color.
Because although gay and trans people exist irl, they haven’t in movies and tv proportionately. Granted, they over corrected and leaned in a bit too hard, but that is self correcting now. If you don’t think they should exist in movies or tv at all, you don’t live in reality.
I risk upsetting people; but my take is as follows.
Family based economy is entry level financial freedom and therefore freedom as advertised by society at large. This solves your immediate Maslow’s hierarchy. It serves many more non-essential but highly helpful functions to an individual and all parts of the family as a social group.
Gender identity offers authority and certainty. If you’ve no immediate concerns on what you are, you can focus on what you want. However if that certainty is eroded and your biological imperative starts to serve a purpose of alienation rather than belonging, you need to spend time to redefine and fit in as a functional member of society while being at odds with yourself.
I realize many may enjoy the representation or feel that it is harmless, but I will say that in my experience both of these target groups have been represented in media prior to this push.
If there is a sinister agenda behind it, it is the erosion of financial freedom and certainty of identity/belonging causing choice fatigue.
If there’s only a minutely sinister agenda behind it, it is because it sells. But boy those 5% must be some hard earners.

Theater kids run Hollywood. Once you realize that its much less conspiratorial and more about the gays writing about themselves and their friends. Thats why it’s such a huge disconnect from most people. In LA your entire community can be whoever you want it to be.

They’re a minority… the vast majority of characters and content are not this. Watch literally anything produced before 1990 and you will find virtually zero representation.
Presenting women as dynamic main characters is not an agenda – it’s 50% of the human race getting representation as characters that do more than wait on strong men to save them .

I personally think this is just wha the creators want to make and it’s really that simple. I’ve worked in film / animation and games for the past almost 20 years now and honestly it’s just becoming more acceptable to have characters like this that represent the people making these shows and things than before.
Most directors artists and what not I know feel like misfits at heart and are usually part of the queer community. Honestly conspiracy mongering that this is “what’s they want” just sounds like boomers saying shit like “what do mean Liberace is gay? He’s not gay”

One reason is that Blackrock funds diversity representation in media. I believe a major reason is to fuel public debate and divide (religion, sex, gender, immigration topics). This eliminates target audience a piece of media made for a specific audience doesn’t exist anymore it’s all homogenised slop for the masses. Forced inclusion in something like media doesn’t help anything, inclusion is something that happens naturally over time. The more you focus on diversity the more divided we become.

It’s always hilarious how there are multiple gay/trans characters in almost every show now days, when in reality they make up such a small percentage of the population.
This became a thing when investment management firms started scoring publically traded companies with ESG scores and Larry Fink’s annual Letter to CEOs pushed them to go for shit like this. Anyone trying to convince you this was organic is either naive or a liar.
I’ll preface this with saying I’m bi and this is something weird I’ve noticed, as I also work in TV/Film/Media industries.
It’s a form of rainbow capitalism and I’ll wager that the money people at the top don’t really give a frosty shit about representation. The marketing people behind these shows/films will get the media to make a big noise about a character and claim it’s ‚fresh‘ and ‚original‘, but don’t give said character/s any depth or real personality outside of a stereotype, or just some throw away dialogue like „as an xxxxxxx person“, all just to highlight who and what they are, to tick some box. One of the weirdest examples I can remember from recent years, was this cyclops cop character in Onward. The news made a big deal out of it, „gay character in a Disney film“, blah blah blah and she’s on screen for pretty much a minute, with a throw away line about her girlfriend. These media companies don’t give a shit about proper representation, they are just throwing what they can out there, because they think it’ll influence audiences to spend money on their product. The irony is, representation was waaaay better years ago. Recently re-watched The Birdcage and that’s a great film.

When you realise the people writing and directing these shows are making it for themselves and not the actual fanbase then you’ll understand why they keep doing it, hopefully enough shit will bomb and we’ll get back to characters that are more thsn their gender identity.
