Donald Trump said talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin had brought a peace deal in Ukraine ‘closer now than we have ever been’, even as European officials said sensitive territorial issues had yet to be resolved.

Speaking in the Oval Office on Monday, the US president said he had a ‘very good’ and ‘long’ discussion with several European leaders, whose support had been ‘tremendous’.

I mean, going from 0.000% of the way there, to 0.001% of the way there is closer than ever for Trump.

Is it „closer than ever“ or „closer than never?“ I don’t think Ukraine will have peace with Putin. If Putin ever wanted peace, he could’ve always just stopped the attacks and invasion. He has yet to make a move to peace, not even a little. All of the supposed effort to negotiate has been a means to a different end only Putin thinks he knows. It’s been a farce.

    4. Everything he says… is a lie. Everything. He is a deceiver. He does not speak truth, ever.

Well we are chronologically closer to peace, whenever that may be, than yesterday. He’s not wrong, technically.

Kinda like saying in 1940 we’re closer to peace than yesterday.
