A lot of posts about birth rate and population recently. Why does a long existing issue suddenly draw attention
I see no problem with the world’s population falling.
We Europeans really need to get our birthrate up from catastrophic to at least only terrible. Our current trajectory is one of demographic, economic and cultural suicide.

After the black death, life got hard for the wealthy in western Europe, but somewhat better for lower classes. Didn’t last unfortunately. This is not meant to suggest support for any type of catastrophic event to reduce the population.
Replacement rate varies country to country. It’s not the same 2.1 rate for every country. Countries with high child mortality rates have higher replacement rate, around 3 or even 4.
