      Don’t mind MicroSD slots coming back. Was a mistake to get rid of them in the first place

      Well it looks like an upgrade for most people is going to be at least 2 years away. No reason to settle for less AND pay more because its new. A bonus is skipping on AI features. Buy a refurbished if you need a replacement in the meantime. You will get more and pay less.

      Im not sure what pisses me off more the fact that they will now try and sell people less powerful hardware or that fact that people will buy it because it says new AI.

      I love MicroSD. Let’s me keep a ton of media and my phone can double as a backup USB thumb drive if necessary.

      A 4gb ram android phone is unusable. It is e-waste and should come with a warning for people who aren’t tech savvy.

      Serious question: what is actually blocking manufacturers from making enough RAM to satisfy demand? Are the factories maxed out, are there raw materials shortages? Was the rise in demand significantly bigger than expected? Haven’t we had several years of knowing AI needs GPUs and RAM to spin up more capacity?

      Everyone says “fuck AI” here is only half right. AI is not the problem, the fucked up economic system that needs this kind of shit to keep itself intact, and the people enforcing it are the problem.

      There are 2 new Chinese manufacturers entering the market, phone manufacturers already have contracts with them.

      For the US that is not an option though, they are banned there.

      If you are a mobile gamer like I am, you should slot microSD anyway to account for non optimized space. Wether it be Gacha games or emulation, just snag one. Shouldn’t cost you more than 15 bucks. If you aren’t a gamer, get a one anyway for photos and videos

      4GB ram phones are starting to come with an extra 4 in VRam but games aren’t optimized for it…go for 8 if you can.

      The ram crisis isn’t all bad. we’ve finally got the return of microsd slots, and maybe developers will learn to optimize things instead of just expecting people to have more and more ram.

      So many phones have removed the MicroSD slots making it incredibly hard for me to want to upgrade my phone. So it coming back is a plus in my eyes
