Those numbers are going to grow much higher after the US abandoned all USAID foreign aid.

Blah blah blah blame colonialism.

This is sad, sadder to think that the fortune of a single oligarch could vastly improve this, but they simply choose not to.

Interesting. I’m African, it’s tragic for the mothers and families. Although I actually see this as children and babies who managed to escape a potential life of endless suffering. I know some who say they would prefer to never have been born and others waiting to die without suiciding so they can go to Heaven. I heard even of people paying to be killed. People in my family have attempted or committed, even with stable jobs and a fairly ‚good‘ life.
If you’ve lived in some African countries you’ll see what we call ‚mad‘ people on the street acting all crazy and barbaric because they’ve basically snapped. Africa’s suffering is by design, I wouldn’t dwell much on it. For now it’s unfortunate but as we develop, the deaths will decrease.

The depressing thing is it’s avoidable. But people who have the power to do something don’t care.

It’s very sad but with overpopulation in mind especially in Nigeria it’s not all bad

For context: throughout almost all of human history and across societies, that figure used to be **around 30 to 40%**.

Those numbers all indicate **significant** progress has been made in infant healthcare.
