    1. Ohhh can’t wait for my identity theft, $6.74 check, and a year of free credit monitoring from a company who has had multiple previous breaches.

NONE of these companies who store the sensitive data we are forced to enter (at times) is ever kept secure. This shit needs to DIE. Or we need a different way to separate our credit scores from our SSNs. Its beyond fucking stupid the 2 are mutually tied together when its so common that everyones data is getting stolen.

They have all been compromised. We aren’t the ones doing business with them.

If you’re in the US, just assume your information is for sale on the dark web.

    4. If your ‚credit‘ isn’t locked by default there isn’t much left to say. It take 5 minutes to lock and 60 seconds to unlock if you need to access debt.

Dusty Slay skit comes to mind on checking his credit score. Like it would bring it down.

Everything our credit information is leaked and verified, every person whose names/info are verified to be impacted, show be paid. Here’s an idea.
Each time this happens, the company involved should be forced to pay off one of the debts in the breach. Start with the lowest CC and go from there.
I bet they would get better at protecting our information if they had real consequences. Yes, early Sunday morning not quite caffinated idea.
What happens next? I mean most of us just lock our credit down. What happens when that no longer works?

    7. “If you get a letter from 700Credit, don’t ignore it,” said Michigan attorney general Dana Nessel. “It is important that anyone affected by this data breach takes steps as soon as possible to protect their information. A credit freeze or monitoring services can go a long way in preventing fraud, and I encourage Michiganders to use the tools available to keep their identity safe.”

    8. Once again,

      * Hold CEOS & CTOs Criminally accountable for breaches
      * Allow civil suits against corporations for breaches

    9. You’d think that by now that all these credit card companies would take a hint that MAYBE they need to take security more seriously. I lost count in the number of breaches, can we have the legal system hold them to some standard of accountability? *checks who’s in charge of the DOJ*… Maybe I’ll check with the next administration.

    10. Where’s Tyler Durden when we need him? Is it even possible to do a mass erasure/reset of credit records in today’s age?

At this point, my info has been leaked 20 times over. The system is broken. We need to scrap this SSN as some kind of magical secure id and demand ownership of our own data.

    12. I got a $.99 cent credit to their app when a big breach happened to a parking payment app here in SF.

So glad I have so many strong passwords that I can’t remember so my information is safe from these attacks

    14. Don’t worry, some lawyer will make millions and we can get 3 weeks of credit monitoring for FREE!

    15. Froze all my credit this morning after someone opened a savings account somewhere. This would explain it.
