Most Americans voted for Donald Trump so something is wrong with this picture.

Sounds like we should go to a single payer system. If only our representatives actually represented our interests.

Healthcare and housing should be an universal right like food and water

What’s the point of a government? That’s the basic question here. Does it exist for itself or for the populace?

I thought we answered this question back in the 1700s

Its in the Preamble of the US Constitution: provide for the general welfare. NOT one person in Trump’s cabinet has ever read it.

    6. Let me correct the title:

Most Americans who don’t vote say government has a responsibility to ensure health coverage.

So did Republican President Richard Nixon in 1972 (and before). Was he one of those „so-called Democratic Socialists“ that the media warns us about?

„An all-directions reform of our health care system–so that every citizen will be able to get quality health care at reasonable cost regardless of income and regardless of area of residence–remains an item of highest priority on my unfinished agenda for America in the 1970s.“

      „Richard Nixon

      37th President of the United States: 1969 ‐ 1974

Special Message to the Congress on Health Care.

      March 02, 1972

To the Congress of the United States:

An all-directions reform of our health care system–so that every citizen will be able to get quality health care at reasonable cost regardless of income and regardless of area of residence–remains an item of highest priority on my unfinished agenda for America in the 1970s.

In the ultimate sense, the general good health of our people is the foundation of our national strength, as well as being the truest wealth that individuals can possess.

Nothing should impede us from doing whatever is necessary to bring the best possible health care to those who do not now have it–while improving health care quality for everyone–at the earliest possible time.

In 1971, I submitted to the Congress my new National Health Strategy which would produce the kind of health care Americans desire and deserve, at costs we all can afford.

Since that time, a great national debate over health care has taken place. And both branches of the Congress have conducted searching examinations of our health needs, receiving and studying testimony from all segments of our society.“

Most Americans like Democrat policies if they don’t know which party’s policy it is.

We are all born into this, whether we end up liking that or not. The vast majority of us will be workers to enrich the rich, so they could at least give us some healthcare.

    12. And the medical board should be the one providing Dr malpractice insurance. My small home town Dr pays $3800 a month just for insurance.

Weird that we’re also all a bunch of dum dums who voted against this very thing

    14. But do they vote that way? Thats the issue. Got to vote for things you think are important national values, or else it doesn’t matter.

We should have a national plan for health care and education. But it’s not going to happen automatically.

Our healthcare system is fundamentally broken, I believe socialized healthcare is the only way to go.

The government is supposed to be by the people for the people

But thanks to half our voter base, our current government is by the people for the rich

    18. of course it does. Given how much we pay into the government, we should get some tangible benefits

    19. I wonder what the % of Americans would feel the role of government is to create an aggregate defence department to protect the citizens? And healthcare is any different?
