Is that an official flag of Afganistan now? Didnt know that Talibans changed it. Thanks!

    2. The present borders of China, with Chinese rule over Xinjiang, Tibet (including most of Qinghai and parts of Sichuan), Inner Mongolia and most of Manchuria, are a territorial legacy of the Qing Dynasty (as is Taiwan).

The Qing are seen very negatively by many due to their failure to adapt to modern science and technology in the 19th century, but you could say they did better than the Qajar and the Ottomans (who were also multinational empires).

Of course Japan did adapt (and quite impressively) but it’s very wrong to compare a huge, land-based multinational empire with an island nation that enjoyed remarkable cultural and national unity. The challenges were of a whole different scale.

To give an idea of density, it’s always funny to see the Burkina Faso and Denmark regions be larger than the actual country lol
