Funny thing is when your package is split in multiple smaller packages(when you buy from different stores). So for 10 euro you may end up paying additional 15 euro in taxes

Tariffs come to Europe

This is the only way.
Every parcel delivered from China to EU costs EU 0.5-1.5 euros process it. Because of the agreements (made long before e-commerce for the regular mail) to process parcels for free, EU ended up taking a loss of every piece of trash shipped by Chinese retailers.
Yes, it will cost you more to buy a 50 euro item with the free shipping from China. The cost is being offloaded from EU postal services back to you, so it will cost 53 euros now while also netting a small profit for EU.

Drop-shippers about to make bank.
I love how countries that can’t make products at a competitive price punish their citizens for choosing cheaper options when everyone’s wallets are hurting.
Free market capitalism is starting to hurt I guess.

They will ship more in bulk to EU then small parcels from EU. It is faster and all.

As a Canadian, why don’t just let DHL or UPS deal with the deliveries? Here Canada Post doesn’t handle packages from Amazon, Temu, Shein, etc? Seems like the issue is more about you guys having no option for private parcel delivery

„European retailers argue they face unfair competition from overseas platforms, such as AliExpress, Shein and Temu, which they claim do not often comply with the EU’s stringent rules on products.“
Umm…maybe products that are not compliant should be stopped then. The €3 tax will not do that. It will make all packages (personal, commercial, compliant etc) €3 more.

I buy lots of stuff from aliexpress, though im in the uk.
Every time i buy from aliexpress they take more or less everything in my order, stick them all in a single bag and post it. 20 items might come in 2 bags so id be paying 6€ more if I were in Europe? I usually wait till I have £30 minimum order so I can paypal pay in 3 in.
Are people getting sissy about this or are people ordering dozens of single items?

God forbid normal people should be allowed to be able to afford stuff. Won’t somebody please think of the drop shippers and useless middlemen?
