Is it fair that people who’s ancestors had land taken by some other people’s ancestors should get free housing provided by the government, funded by taxpayers who had no personal involvement in the past wrongs, and many who don’t even have any ancestors who were involved in the past wrongs?
It’s analogous to someone taking my grandfathers house and then I sue the current homeowners who bought it 20 years ago who had no connection to the previous theft and then they have to pay me millions of dollars in a settlement, provide me free housing and then still eventually give me the land back.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that people angry about this haven’t read the case.
The reason the Government has a duty to provide housing here isn’t some woke nonsense or reparations for vague historical unfairness.
The reason is that the Government specifically adopted rules that prevented First Nations from developing their own housing, gave themselves the responsibility to provide housing, and then didn’t do it.
