Isolation is what 21st century technology has prepared us for. Hell, the biggest industries in the last decade or two have essentially removed the need for social interaction of any meaningful kind. So, what do you really expect? The Japanese were already prone to isolation before we provided the means by which to make it a viable lifestyle.
