At least don’t ask raise/promotion because of tax policy change. If you can ask raise you should always do that regardless of tax policy and you need to justify it based on your work merits and value you bring to the company.
You always agree salary before taxes. If you are well paid (among peer in FI) your income tax tiny bit decreases 2026, this is decided already. Providing your communal tax ain’t changing. Affect is so small you do not detect it on bank account.
Depends on your salary and personal preferences. The marginal tax rate starts to get close to 50% for gross salaries of 35k/year (2920/month). And in fact tax rates for salaries of <5k and >7k/month will get a cut next year: https://www.veronmaksajat.fi/contentassets/1d4babd0fd904c61aecc3b62950f9313/palkansaajan-veroprosentin-muutos-2026-011225.pdf
That being said, if you value specific benefits such as lunch or culture/fitness benefits more and are not already provided by your employer, they might be something worth bringing up to the table. Those are very commonly provided by Finnish companies. However, you might need to negotiate collectively by proposing this with other employees as well.
Your salary will affect your pension, so definitely ask for a raise.
