According to the article, Park was issued a removal order sometime around 2012, but it wasn’t enforced until recently as he was checking in regularly. If anything, it shows that the US really needs to fix its policy of „you have been issued a deportation order and must leave…but if you keep checking in with us, we’ll ignore it“. Either deport them or allow them to stay permanently.
It doesn’t matter if you earned your keep through blood, sweat, tears, or mental wounds in service to this country. It doesn’t matter if you have demonstrated more civic competency (via naturalization), and love for this country than a natural born citizen. It doesn’t matter if Trump’s own administration made former promises to people who were in fear of being deported, since they always intended to break them. Right now, it’s all about passing the „Paper bag“ test.
Don’t worry. MAGA defended her by saying he’s a green card holder and therefore not a citizen so it’s okay he was deported, service of not.
