Motherfuckers, they really are trying to end this whole project – there’s years left in it. Truly depressing. Let’s hope euros can sabotage this agreement somehow.
Ukraine knows they aren’t ever going to retake it. At least they are finally starting to admit it and take a position that makes sense. If they had a real offensive capability things would be different but they just do not.

This is a painful concession, but Russia is never going to accept an international peacekeeping force. The chance that Ukraine has to actually go through with this still seems low.

It appears a lot of commenters here haven’t read the article. This would require Russia to also pull back from the demilitarized zone, they’re also talking about Russia funding part of the reconstruction of Ukraine and an international (US included) force that would man the demilitarized zone. This is intended to show Trump that they’re playing ball, but Russia hasn’t shown any signs so far that they would accept anything like this. It’s political maneuvering ofc but peace seems far away.
