That’s the danger of gerrymandering. You can give yourself a massive advantage. But the harder you push, the more risky it is. If there is a big pendulum swing, they risk losing everything.

Basically what the moderates and dems warned you about.
Having solid red districts mean that even when tbe economy goes to shit, or you close all the rural hospitals, or you pardon the druglords that are ravaging rural communities with meth and fentenol, or you convince a bunch of communities that the way forward is to ship everyone off to ICE or to a war with venezeula… like you will still have enough deep red districts that you can maintain control of congress and of the state as a whole.
But when you gerrymander, those deep red districts become red tinted districts. So now, ignorable issues become big problems. Things that would shift the vote 10/15/20 points are things you can still recover from if the district is 100% deep red rural country boys. If you now have cities and suburbs and the county, then idk erasing the middle class may turn a safe red district into a solid blue one. Suddenly if all those country boys got to drive 2 hours to the nearest hospital and youve effectively eliminated Ambulances. Then you are one major 4 car crash from a PR disaster, that flips a district. Suppressing jobs reports when the one factory that supplied 70% of the jobs closes means those people are t going to polls now. It doesnt matter to trump cause he is more interested in turning the White House into his retirement home and making deals with Saudi Arabia. He doesnt care if his tariffs close down half of your town and knock your family out of the “upper poor” class into the bottom of the bottom.
A lot of these gop leaders are slowly getting it that the dems still have a shot at flipping control, And theres a whole lot of people in this country that are about to learn how much worse its gonna get.

Surprised, but not surprised really.
I’m curious, with the supposed 5 extra seats in Texas, are the Republicans running uncontested there? If not, could they end up Democrat?
Couldn’t find anything solid to reference, so not sure.
