Nato-Chef: Bereiten Sie sich auf einen Krieg mit Russland vor

The West faces war with Russia on a scale not seen since the days of “our grandparents and great-grandparents”, the head of Nato warned on Thursday.

Mark Rutte, Nato secretary-general, said Vladimir Putin had chosen the alliance as his “next target” in some of his strongest warnings yet on the prospect of war spreading across Europe.

“Conflict is at our door. Russia has brought war back to Europe, and we must be prepared for the scale of war our grandparents or great-grandparents endured,” Mr Rutte said in Berlin.

“We need to be crystal clear about the threat. We are Russia’s next target, and we are already in harm’s way.”

The assessment came towards the end of a frantic week of diplomacy, as Kyiv and European allies [submitted a new Ukraine peace proposal to the Trump administration](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/12/09/trump-zelensky-must-accept-peace-deal-ukraine-losing/) that will be discussed in Paris this weekend.

Mr Trump accused European leaders of being “weak” earlier this week and has outlined plans to pivot away from traditional security alliances on the continent.

They should have been „prepared“ already by now wtf.

NATO will finish Russia in the matter of weeks.

Man when this war broke out I was saying the west should be more involved, kinetic if it came to it.

Establish a no fly zone over uncontested parts of Ukraine. Even conduct strikes on uncontested parts of Ukraine. Ukraine would have to do the work of liberation on its own. 

I got a lot of push back from people say, „do you want nuclear war? That is how you get nuclear war! “ 

But I never got a clear answer as to why putin would end his own life because America shot down a plane or two over a different country. But not end his own life after his army collapses in Ukraine and his economy collapses at home!?! 

There is no guarantee the war widens. It’s makes sense to prepare even if it’s not a 100% certainty. 

But to all the people who were so adamant the west’s slow roll strategy is the best plan to avoid war, where is logic??? 

Made absolutely no sense then. Makes no sense now. Putin will stop when forced to or after he remakes the USSR. Getting older is not going to make him more patient. Years of war and transforming (dismantling) the economy will not make him less risk adverse. 

It’s so disheartening how smart people can be so blind to obvious logic. Can have such difficulty imagining motivation outside of their own. But based on popular consensus on UAPs and AI, does unfortunately track. 

How can NATO be next after Ukraine if Russia can’t even get past the donbas against a non NATO country. Seems like bullshit to me. Either way, NATO countries must increase defence spending on the assumption Putin tries, Trump is correct about that.

NATO is a divided force not capable of doing anything other then patrolling air space and whining about incursions. Not a single drone incursion dealt with out of the hundreds that occurred over sensitive military facilities in past 6 months.

What exactly are they doing to prepare god damn it.

I’m starting to be more worried about war with the US.

Its a load of bullshit, russia is already basically a legless zombie in a coma ward.
Its only the meat grinder and occasional piece of tech that rolls off the line left now.
No way in any situation can they wage a 2 front war with a more prepared enemy than ukraine was.

I dont get why ANYONE takes this shit seriously. Its just warmongers mongering and stirring up fears and the people.
