It’s a good idea by the r/OntarioLiberalParty, and one that is actually being carried out in a few provinces currently, including Manitoba.

We have a ton of stock that has already been paid for and is sitting in warehouses. We might as well get rid of it and do something good with the money.

Looks like Ford is actually interested in the idea, which is surprising given the divided state of our politics these days.

    2. That’s what they are doing in Manitoba and people were lined up before opening to get it.

I choose to believe it is because the money is going to charity and not that people are giving up on not buying American products.

I’m a Liberal, and this is utter nonsense. If it’s a public asset, the public deserves to have that money returned to it. If the government wants to better fund food banks, better to give continuous predictable funding, not a one-off dollop of cash from a sale.

    4. The American producers are not going to be getting any money out of this sale, so it is a sunk cost. I hope that Ford goes ahead with the idea. Maybe he could add 10% to the price and donate it to help the autoworkers and steelmakers who are being laid off because of Trump.

      This is just stupid.

There’s no reason to take existing stock of the shelves, just sell it as usual and don’t order any new stock to replace it

    6. We should do like a meals thing for Christmas. Or toys. Make sure everyone has a good meal and toys for their kids.

    7. This is the Ontario liberals trying to do the Doug Ford thing with appealing to heartstrings of The People™️ instead of doing the responsible thing with our tax money.

      Edit: fuck Doug Ford
