National policy prioritizes self-interest (security, economy) over sentimental alliances, meaning alliances shift as interests change People from different countries *can* form deep, personal friendships, which are based on individual connections, shared values, and mutual understanding, distinct from government policies, fostering cultural exchange and challenging nationalistic biases.
Trump’s so undisciplined and susceptible to flattery, I doubt he consistenly follows this document. he’ll follow it for a few months, then abandon it after a nice meeting with some European leaders, then get back on board with it some months later.
The next GOP president might follow this strategy pretty ruthlessly though. The younger members of the GOP are worse than the older ones.

Y’all basically agree with 90% of what the right wing in America believes in. It’s only due to the foreign policy and trade conflict between the US and the EU that there’s tensions. When it comes to minorities, y’all spout the same stuff Trump does and even worse it comes from centrist parties too, not just the right.
As an American I love seeing Europeans realize what they’re dealing with. Only when the rest of the world properly recognizes the threat of our leadership and imperialism will we have the chance to rectify things domestically. As long as everyone tolerates, encourages, and goes along with our bullshit, the political establishment is able to ignore the American people because corporate profits are still churning away. If we suffer economically on an international scale and lose all credibility, awareness raises among our populace because the price of our bread and circus entertainment rises, and we can finally overthrow these corrupt fucks.
Europe needs the US tech to survive and flourish. Without the US, Europe would be conquered by russia.
I would not call us “adversaries”. More like a husband and wife in a very strained marriage. We’ve been married for almost 80 years, so of course big arguments are inevitable.
Obviously the question is now what we should do with the marriage. I don’t think divorce is the best option. I think instead we should try to cooperate when possible, and each of us tries to strengthen ourselves on our own, so that Europe becomes an equal partner in the marriage instead of the junior partner.
America needs a great cleansing of the right wing filth.
