Trump has been bought by the Russians. The provision about Euroclear’s frozen assets, earmarked for Putin’s inner circle and Trump’s allies in „28- points plan“, was intentionally included to pit USA against Europe
They (Putin&Trump) probably cut a deal in Anchorage for European stakes in assets in Russian market to go to US interests.
The result? Europe now plays the dual role of America’s milking cow for unilateral tariffs and the designated scapegoat blocking the payout.

If we assume that at least some intelligence remains in the White House and within the U.S. Secretary of Defense, it is that they continue to view China as the one and only real strategic rival, while believing Russia can be pushed back toward the West. They are underestimating Russia’s ambitions on European soil, assuming Moscow will stop after taking the Donbas.
So to summarize the entire „BBC report“:
– Trump is being Trump
– Russian propaganda papers see even the smallest nudges in their favor as a „victory“
