So separately from the issue at hand we have the much scarier problem of oligarchs now openly considering themselves legitimate actors under international law symmetric to governments, having the power to sanction, retaliate, and implement public policy, as a government would.

    What’s next, robotic private armies?

  2. Be really cool if we banned X since it’s broadly a misinformation vortex. All of these targeted algorithms are an absolute atrocity, especially in the hands of the abusive…

He’s doing them a favour. Why advertise on a platform owned by a far-right entity?

That’s ok. There’s lots more widely popular social media sites than X. Lots.

All while X is loosing money in their ads platform. Make that make sense.

Is that like Trump telling farmers it’s best to lose money by not selling to Chai-nah, because it shows they are real patriots?

Didn’t he cry that companies not advertising on X is censorship, illegal and anti-free speech?

The way for governments to deal with this is to put boundaries on how the algorithm works. It should not be biased towards one side or another and certainly not to the owner of the company.

Elon deservingly should be shat on here. But the U.S. tech (defacto at this point) oligarchs and the U.S. political class are all working hard to push the massive infrastructure and services advantage that the U.S. holds over Europe. Over 50% of Europe’s internet is hosted across Microsoft/Amazon/Google, that’s everything from small to large businesses reliant upon American companies. Facebook/Instagram/Twitter/Snapchat, etc…. Dominate in Europe among other American based social media sites.

The American elite feel like Europe is stepping out of their lane to overburden the digital services industry with regulation and taxes, and want to use the massive amount of influence and infrastructure they have to force Europe to capitulate if they want access to the most effective AI, and other services.

Europe needs to be investing in hosting their own Internet on European data centers, investing in their own home grown AI, and keeping their domestic markets competitive and keeping their top talent domestic. If America pulled the plug on services tomorrow, Europe needs to be able to stand on its own largely unaffected. If someone backs you into a corner, you fight, not capitulate.

I’m genuinely curious about the actual user count on *formerly Twitter* these days. Is it really as dead as I want it to be or am I in an eco chamber?

  10. Why not just raise the prices for them in order to give himself a discount on the fine?

  11. He really is fucking stupid. That’s lost money for *Twitter* for the simple fact they **pay** to advertise on their site
