      Seems netflix is reaping the rewards of being the most expensive streaming platform.

      To think, we used to have $7.99 a month no ads BS no strings attached.

      Now he’s cautioning against the Netflix and WB deal because his boy Larry Ellison wants in on that deal. Ellison donated 16mil to Trumps “new presidential library.”

      Feels like another case of “what if we buy an entire adjacent industry instead of figuring out our own margins.” On paper, Netflix + EA = IP + distribution + subscription bundle. In reality you get culture clash, massive capital outlay, and regulators asking why a debt-fueled streamer owns FIFA.

      Why shouldn’t we just ban mergers outright? the economy needs competition and the „efficiency“ argument is garbage, inefficiency is the point.

      I hate the fact that you cannot remove or even hide the games sections. Does anyone even play them? If I want to play games, I will play games on my PC or consoles. I don’t want to have to pay extra every month to subsidise a feature that no one ever asked for and the majority don’t even want.

      I always thought they should have bought Jackbox during the pandemic. Everyone I knew was playing it over zoom, and Netflix could have spun up hosted Jackbox games on their platform pretty quickly.

      Hell, I still think they should do it. It’s kind of the perfect game library for a streaming service…

      Not that I’m rooting for it, to be clear. I don’t really want those guys swallowed up by a mega corp. But as a business idea I think it makes a lot more sense than a lot of their decisions in the gaming space.
