    1. Damn didn’t know my Bengali bros on the other side aren’t doing the deed

    2. As a Bengali but not from West Bengal, my guess is that they are some of the most educated demographics outside of South India

Different country and the people in the „1.2 state“ are also Bengalis

    4. At a guess the massive and economically more developed city of Kolkata is throwing off the data for West Bengal vs the others.

Southern states aren’t developed yet… They just have relatively better social indicators than RoI

    7. The states in southern India aren’t developed, I don’t know why people keep parroting this. They have fertility rates similar to many middle and high income countries while being nowhere near their income or social development. They lost their fertility rate before they could get rich, basically. They are staring at a demographic collapse similar to China.

West Bengal especially Kolkata has been a place of learning (science, art, literature) from even before the Indian independence where women were encouraged and celebrated in academia and workplace.

Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa all took much longer for development to kick in (not until the 1990s/2000/s

    9. Wikipedia says Bangladesh in 2023 had 2.16 TFR

Srill much higher than west bengal

    10. By Bengali I’m guessing you meaning Indian Bengalis. If you’re referring to people of Bangladesh, they are referred to as Bangladeshis.

      We are built different man

      „ami gorbito ami bangali“

Actually it is because of the marrying age(male) we tend get married in 27-30 years but in other states and Bangladesh they probably get married in 22-24 years(male), we are only getting married if we have a good stable income, but I think in other states if your father is rich have money even if son is unemployed they get married.

We tend to have 1-2 kids in Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z whereas in other states that figure in 3-4.
