Reine Heuchelei in ihren „Funktionsprinzipien“. Sie wollen „mit Leidenschaft führen“ und „mit Integrität handeln“, aber sie bezahlen Künstler nicht einmal für einfache Kunst im Unternehmensstil.

Have you considered that Limerick DAC has most likely doled this work out to a small design agency that is working under very tight budgets and hiring an illustrator may never have been possible?

Appreciate that art is expensive and hiring illustrators is hassle but Limerick have Limerick School of Art and Design. Could have done a competition for students to submit art for this for a couple hundred euro and gotten something decent within a deadline with options to chose from. Dublin Marathon have started asking NCAD students to design their medals and they’ve been brilliant since, as well as great promotion for the student artist.

Civic bodies should never use AI art.

Pay the €200 for something from a local artist and keep that money in Limerick rather than increasing the enshitifacation of the place (if only by a small amount).

This kind of thing becomes sticky in organisations and needs to be weeded out.

Using AI to generate images doesn’t contradict „act with integrity“.

The world is changing and artists are not going to be commissioned for this type of work anymore. Its a fight that will be lost. AI is significantly cheaper and that industry will see massive disruption due to AI.

It has a very AI look alright. But if you’re ever not sure, there’s several AI image detector sites where you upload the image and get a pretty concrete answer.

    6. This is probably an image bank they’re using. Which may use AI.

Why this bothers you so much is beyond me. The images are comparable to MS clipart.

    7. Do not assume that they didn’t pay for it to be illustrated and that an illustrator didn’t take shortcuts.

    8. Wasn’t convinced it was AI but the random spear on first image is random

How young is everyone here? Did you read the copy above even? None of it is that important. Like at all, they could just as easily not have the booklet at all or just not use images? You even said they got free images from the Internet and only resort to ai for limerick specific things. Open up PowerPoint 2007 right now, go to clip art. There you go. You can only use them from now on. No AI or Google fonts or smileys. Pay a real artist or do nothing? Do you see how that makes no sense? Follow through like e.g. ai is used to change facial expression of actor instead of reshooting (bad). An engineer or scientist using AI to generate cute icons for a slide deck when they do not even need to be there should not require commissioning. E.g. The about us page for companies has ALWAYS been slop. Copy pasting from other sites bios and changing a few words. Taking pictures from the Internet to add colour. Sorry something went wrong message for 1.5 years. Horribly out of date….but the new guy who uses AI is not taking anything away. Slightly better slop.

    10. This to me looks some someone drawing red circle around a bit to tell us something is wrong.
      Looks fine to me.

Lead with passion first line reads like AI as well.
It’s not just x, it’s y. With the em dash

    12. We’ve lost this one, its done. You can’t expect a new cheap technology that does this stuff in seconds not to be used.

    13. Being a pedant for a moment – AI Art is an oxymoron.

If it’s been generated by an algorithm, it by definition cannot be art, as it hasn’t had any or minimal human input into the final product.

All image generation is is querying existing data. It’s equally as much ‚art‘ as typing something into DuckDuckGo to get some search results.

Yeah the foot and spear on image 1 when combined with everything else makes it look like probable AI

But the „generic art“ bit on page 2 is probably clip art (still shite) and that canon looks very clip arty too

What evidence be this from what I can see as of this showing it would appear madness? Or perhaps more dense than evidence.
      Please grant me sight?

I don’t see how it could definitely be AI, it’s not great but I’m not seeing any dead AI giveaways apart from maybe the big leg. The cannon wheel looks absolutely fine to me. I’ve been doing graphic design 30 years and have tons of 3d experience.

    17. But do you have proof apart from you ‘think’ it is? “Stock” images does not mean it’s AI, nothing you have circled is proof or means anything, can you prove they didn’t pay a local artist for this?

    18. qualitycancer on

I’m not entirely convinced these are AI, certainly not the line drawing people.

And if it is, who cares?
