      Summary:

      – The National Security Strategy… isn’t merely a restatement of “America First” principles; it is a codified assertion of unilateral American power within the Western Hemisphere, carrying serious implications for Canada.

      – TThe most aggressive language is found in its operational directive demanding “establishing or expanding access in strategically important locations,” backed by the requirement for a “more suitable Coast Guard and Navy presence to control sea lanes … the Northwest Passage, the sea lane connecting the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, is the only major strategic transit route in the North American half of the hemisphere.

More than just the Monroe Doctrine-centric nature of it, it’s the most barely-contained paean to white nationalism I’ve ever seen coming from the United States government.

For ethnic minority Canadians, the terms the US uses when talking about migration and ‚European civilization‘ in this document should ring a bell. They’re the same barely-hidden dogwhistles our domestic hatemongers love to use. Domestic hate, if not already treated as such, should now rise to the level of a national security concern for us, given it’s evident that these views will enjoy the enthusiastic support of the United States going forward.
