      Many counties are like 10,000 to 100,000 more in population than the 2020 numbers on this map show when the 2021 and 2022 censuses were done.

      Still a lower population in Ireland today than pre famine though

      1841 population: ~8.2 million (still the historical high water mark for population)

      2025 population: ~~5.4 million~~ ~7.2 million

      Edit: 5.4 million did not include Northern Ireland
