Japans Präsenz in der koreanischen Film-, Musik- und Performanceszene nimmt mit dem Aufblühen des kulturellen Austauschs zu

>”A generation that grew up with Japanese comics after the Kim Dae-jung administration opened cultural exchange between Korea and Japan has now become adults,” cultural critic Kim Bong-seok said. “Anime, once seen as something only devoted fans followed, is now entering the mainstream.” 

So much for the excuse that animation is not profitable in Korea. The problem clearly lies with the lackluster quality of domestically-produced animation (unless it’s aimed at kids).
