„Die bisher größte Entscheidung“ – KI erlauben, sich selbst zu trainieren | Der Chefwissenschaftler von Anthropic sagt, dass die Autonomie der KI eine vorteilhafte „Intelligenzexplosion“ auslösen könnte – oder der Moment sein könnte, in dem Menschen die Kontrolle verlieren

Reminds me of that scene in I, Robot:
„Robots making robots? Now that’s just stupid.“
There’s wisdom in that. Recursive self-improvement dramatically increases the odds that we lose control.
> AI systems will be capable of doing “most white-collar work” in two to three years.
This is another thing he said. And given that’s been the line for multiple years already, I’m not too concerned.
Just more valuation pumping.
Seems like an appropriate risk trade-off… Let’s do it!
It’s good that everyone’s future will be wagered on a dice roll. We may all become extinct, but for a short golden moment, a lot of shareholder value will be created.
It’s just gonna eat itself lmao. We already see this with a.i gen images ripping off other a.i gen images. Sorry Mr. Godfather of a.i no.294, but until this is actual intelligence (it fuckin isn’t) its not gonna be able to teach itself because it has no true comprehension of what it’s teaching.
Fascinating, terrifying, exciting. The genie is out of the bottle and no amount of regulation, imposed or voluntary, will put it back.
Even if one or two companies or even whole countries make the decision to throttle AI, the rest will race ahead.
It’s impossible to overstate the implications. Mankind has entered a new era.
Or just becomes even more divorced from reality and disappears up it’s own virtual arse.
Isn’t this already a problem. AI training on AI outputs, compounding errors over and over again. Resulting in inbred AI hallucinations?
