On the one hand, this is pretty funny schadenfreude.

It’s telling that Trump views pardons as transactional favors instead of matters of justice. The fact that he “regrets” one because it didn’t buy loyalty says a lot about how he approaches presidential power.
Pardons aren’t supposed to be political IOUs.
The whole situation is another reminder that Trump evaluates everything through personal benefit. Cuellar running again isn’t a betrayal it’s just democracy.
If a former president is lamenting past pardons based on electoral convenience, that’s a pretty big red flag for how he’d use power again.

I see a pattern emerging. Trump is pardoning all of these high ranking prisoners with political backgrounds probably in hopes that it will be seen as the new norm to pardon such people. That way if he ever goes to prison, people will be demanding that he get the same treatment.
But he’s too dumb to realize that these people are in prison for a reason. They aren’t there because of an unfair system. They are rich and powerful. If they were innocent, they would have never gone in the first place. They are there because they *actually* corrupt. And once out, they will keep on doing what they are doing because they got a literal „get out of jail“ card from the president himself.
Regrets this one but not pardoning drug lords.

Everything is transactional with Trump. Everything.
It’s a ploy guys. If he gets elected, he’ll switch teams or basically block democrats (like sinema or manchin). Watch his donors be the same as Cuomo. Hence why Jeffries supported his pardoning.

Trump is so gullible. Cuellar’s daughters write him a letter saying their father is just a victim of mean old man Biden, persecuted because he loved strong borders and Trump buys it. Pardons the guy without even talking to him.
The same thing happend with the former president of Honduras. They wrote Trump a letter claiming he was a victim of Biden because he was just like Trump. Trump eats it up and pardons a convicted drug trafficker. What a fool.
The man even flat out tells you he’s doing favors only to benefit himself and people still support it and him.
as somebody that grew up in cuellar’s district all i can say is that the people living there vote for him but they are very very very very center right. they all hate abortion and they all are super catholic, anti lgbtq.
they only vote dem because for a long time they believed republicans were anti hispanic but even the democrats in that district are pretty right leaning so cuellar is just another republican anyway
