      Hard to believe but Trump migth be smarter than Takaichi.. At least he seems to understand the whole strategic ambiguity thing better than her.

      The reason for this is that the United States arbitrarily gave sovereignty over the island, which was originally 100% Taiwanese, to Chiang Kai-shek.

      The 15% of outsiders from mainland China intended to return to China someday and spoke of one China, but the original Taiwanese people had no intention of doing so.

      The Taiwanese people have never agreed for historical years to becoming Chinese territory.
