I’ll never understand the knock on working from home, literally everyone would rather do it. Thought we lived in a ‘democracy’ wouldn’t the people’s opinion matter?. The tools we have available to us make it so much easier to work comfortably but we will gladly lick the boot anyway to prove we’re hard workers.

Or maybe they should delegate the decision making on these requests to the manager responsible for the employee. The one who knows best on the individuals circumstances, work ethic, and work requirements.

The reason that WFH doesn’t work in the public sector is that it isn’t a performance-based culture.

WFH can work in private sector because if you don’t perform your job, your employment will be terminated. In the public sector, it’s very hard to be fired due to the union, no layoffs, etc.

They require more oversight to ensure they are doing their job.
