Brian Cole Jr., the suspect charged with planting two pipe bombs near the headquarters of political parties ahead of the January 6 Capitol riot in 2021, told the FBI that he believed the 2020 U.S. presidential election had been stolen, according to reports.
CNN and NBC, citing people familiar with the investigation, reported that Cole spent hours giving multiple statements to the FBI – something Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino confirmed during an interview with Fox News on Thursday without elaborating.
Cole is charged with transporting an explosive device and attempted malicious destruction by means of explosive materials after he allegedly planted homemade pipe bombs outside of the Republican and Democrat National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. on the evening of January 5, 2021.
