One thing I never understand when Americans say things like this is, have they ever been to the east coast/ midwest during winter? Winter in some of those states is worse than what its like in Europe. I remember going to Chicago and thinking I was going to literally freeze to death. Pennsylvania was also just as bad.

I’ve been to some of the ultra rich homes in the Cotswolds… They all have top of the line central heating. If you still suffer in a mild British Winter then you must be a special case.
I think there’s a grain of truth in what she’s saying despite everyone here hating her. London late fall and winter has a particularly gloomy and depressing vibe to it. It’s not just the weather itself. Hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it. It’s definitely different. There’s a reason the UK is full of raging alcoholics and it’s just accepted as the normal lifestyle.
